The above image is from the 1944 darkly comedic film Arsenic and Old Lace, starring Cary Grant and directed by Frank Capra. Grant stars as Mortimer Brewster, a celebrated writer who has made a name for himself writing a number of books deriding and denouncing the institution of marriage as an "old-fashioned superstition". Despite his prejudices, he falls in love with Elaine Harper, the daughter of a pastor who lives next door to his aunts. Almost in spite of himself, he proposes marriage to her and they go to the local justice of the peace to tie the knot. Mortimer, paranoid that members of the press might see him getting married and make a big story out of it, wears an overcoat and dark glasses (as seen above) hoping not to be recognised. Believe it or not, this occurs at the very beginning of the movie and only peripherally affects the main plot.
