- Leonard Nimoy
I was saddened today to hear of the death of Leonard Nimoy. I am, obviously, a fan of Star Trek: TOS, and Nimoy's portrayal of Mr. Spock was one of the main reasons that the show was so good. He was brilliant at presenting a character who strove to be completely logical and rational, yet faced a constant struggle to suppress his human, emotional side. The resident alien on Star Trek, he managed to make Spock at once foreign and yet easy to identify with and relate to. The interaction between Spock, Kirk, and McCoy provides many of the best and most memorable moments of the show- a lot of them showcasing Spock's deadpan sarcasm. Leonard Nimoy provided the world with an iconic, unforgettable fictional character. He will be missed.
