There are, as I said, six seasons at present and I'm working my way through series two right now. So far I'm enjoying the show immensely, finding the storylines very involving and the characters engaging. My favourite character so far is Superintendent Ted Hastings, who heads up A.C.-12. He exudes decency. It's early days yet, of course, and Line Of Duty still has lots of time to disappoint me, but so far it's had tight, well-written plots and complex characters. Definitely glad I decided to watch.
Having finished all of The Expanse, I was looking for a new show to watch and settled on Line Of Duty, which I'd heard was really good but hadn't checked out before. The first series originally aired in 2012, and they are currently on series six. Line Of Duty is a police procedural which focusses on the investigations carried out by the Anti-Corruption Unit (basically Internal Affairs) of allegations against police officers. As you can imagine, this makes the team immensely popular with the rest of the force- not. And this hostility makes their investigations even harder, as many police officers- even innocent ones- are reluctant to cooperate with them, or rat out fellow officers. Of course, the show is very different from American cop shows for a variety of reasons, one of which being there's a lot less gun action. There have been a few times when, during scenes in which a character is facing a dangerous baddie, my brain has automatically thought, "Shoot that guy!" only to remember a second later that of course they can't, because most police in Britain are prohibited from carrying guns. Felt like it was time to have a go at some Thoreau; it's been a while.

About MeI'm a lover of good books, classic movies, and well-written shows (as well as some pretty cheesy ones, to be completely honest). Categories
