The weather mostly cooperated... it was beautiful Friday, Saturday, and Monday though it poured on Sunday, so we did a lot of indoor activities and games with the kids that day. We also had our own church service in the lodge during the morning; with several pastors in the family and any number of musicians, it's not hard to pull something together. It's also better than dropping in on some poor unsuspecting local church with almost 50 extra people, many of them small children.
One of the activities we do every year is the 5 km run/walk (depending on age and ability):
Other indoor events (due to rain) included a team Minute To Win It competition, and we used a number of the tables turned on their sides to form an indoor gaga ball pit for the kids to play in. Every evening we stayed up late into the night, talking, laughing, and playing board games. My brother of course had brought his TOS Star Trek trivia game, at which he soundly defeated all players... I'm fine with any questions about the episodes themselves, but he knows all the picky, technical stuff as well, like ship registration numbers, etc. Nerd. I did much better at Chronology, a game where you have to form an historical timeline; I played twice, winning once and once being narrowly defeated by my niece who is currently working on an undergraduate degree in history. I also played Mexican Train dominoes, but we won't talk about that. Suffice to say, the bones weren't falling in my favour.
One of my nephews had his birthday while we were there, and we had a cake for him on Sunday. I gave him a few small gifts, including a copy of one of my favourite adventure stories when I was young- Kidnapped, by Robert Louis Stevenson:
