Of course, feeding close to 50 people- many of them tweens and teenagers- from Friday supper to Monday lunch requires copious amounts of food. Generally everyone brings breakfast food to share, and we divvy up the rest of the meals to bring supplies for. My Mum and I are providing Saturday supper for the whole crew, so I've been busy cooking and baking for the last few evenings. We're serving chili, so both of us cooked a large pot of it and are serving brown rice as a side. She's bringing rolls to go with it, while I made tea biscuits and am also bringing tortilla chips.
This is an exciting day, because after having to cancel the last two years due to stupid Covid restrictions, we're off to the willy-wags of New Brunswick for our annual Fam Jam (family jamboree). It will be the first time since New Years Day 2020 that the entire family has been in the same place at the same time. I can't wait. For dessert, we're serving a variety of cookies and squares; I'm not sure what Mum's bringing, but I made brownies, peanut butter cookies, and chocolate chip cookies. I packed as much as I could in ziploc bags to save room, and to have less to carry home after the long weekend. My contribution to breakfast is muffins: banana and oatmeal chip: And, perhaps my most important contribution to breakfast (also lunch & supper)- coffee: I also threw the leftover Easter candy in the food box... with 28 nephews & nieces hanging about for four days, I'm sure it will disappear. I'm also delivering some gift pillowcases that didn't make it at Christmas time to various nephews & nieces: In other news, there's no internet service where we're headed, so I will be completely offline for the next few days; happy Victoria Day, everyone!
