Tevye the Dairyman has been adapted many times, both into plays and films. The most famous adaptation is, of course, Fiddler On the Roof, the 1964 stage musical which was then made into a movie in 1971. Fiddler is my favourite musical, and I must say that it's a great temptation to peek into the book, but so far I have restrained myself. If I didn't already have three books on the go, I'd probably download a copy for myself, but that will have to wait for now.
My physical copy of Fiddler is currently on loan to a friend who had never seen it before and admittedly, I'm torn. On one hand, I'm always excited for people to experience great works of fiction that I love. On the other hand, however, I fret when my favourite books or movies are out on loan. I mean, you never know when someone is going to forget to give them back, and it's kind of awkward to have to ask for them. Still, I'm glad she's going to experience the greatness which is Fiddler on the Roof.
