"Home joys are blessed of heaven." -Seneca. I had an unexpected day at home yesterday because I have to go in to work on Saturday and thus had to take a day off during the week so that I won't be working overtime. I puttered around most of the morning, drinking coffee and reading- having a go at the adventures of Zorro in The Curse of Capistrano: Uh oh, Captain Ramon is trying to make time with Don Diego's girl. This won't end well. I did eventually become productive; I went out and bought some potting soil, then repotted a couple of plants which had outgrown their containers. I also started some cherry seeds which I've had chilling in the refrigerator for a few months; we'll see how this goes... I don't really have a green thumb. That's why I always buy cheap plants- so I won't feel too badly if I kill them. I took a walk late in the afternoon then came back, started supper, and did a bit of baking. I had some cranberries which I hadn't used at thanksgiving so made some orange/cranberry muffins- and threw in some chopped pecans left over from the sweet potato casserole. "Willful waste makes woeful want" as they say. I also now remember why it's been so long since I zested an orange... no fun at all, and it takes forever to get a tablespoon of zest. In the evening I worked on a pair of socks that I'm knitting and watched a movie. I watched this 2020 film, so expect a post on that later, when I have time.
