Fred's life continues on its downward spiral; Homer drops by to visit him at the drugstore and some guy notices his prosthetics and decides to treat him to an oration on why the USA should never have entered the war, and how Germany wasn't so bad. The situation quickly escalates into a scuffle and Fred leaps over the counter and punches the obnoxious jerk out. Needless to say, Fred is no longer employed at the drugstore.
Despite the wreckage of his own marriage- and his disastrous association with Peggy- Fred bluntly tells Homer that he should marry Wilma because it's obvious to him that the two youngsters truly love each other.
