Oh, by the way, we managed to watch the first four Hunger Games movies though we didn't have time to watch The Ballad Of Songbirds and Snakes- we're still trying to find an evening to do that. I have thoughts on the films which I'll get into later, but I did manage to knit a requested pair of socks for one of my nephews over the course of the films which I delivered on Sunday when I saw him:
Well, Easter is over, and I had a lovely time with family celebrating the holy occasion, as well as a couple of birthdays. One of my sisters had a birthday, and I gave her a pair of socks I had knit earlier this year as well as a book by Stuart McLean, a much loved Canadian author. One of my young nieces also had a birthday- turning four- and I gave her a cushion I had sewn, with a book pocket. She's learning to read right now, so I included an easy book which she'll soon be able to read herself. I went to my church's Good Friday service on Friday morning, then spent time with my parents and a couple sisters, taking some (raisin-less) Hot Cross Buns with me... as I believe I've mentioned before, due to an unfortunate childhood incident, raisins turn my stomach. Saturday was busy, as we had an egg painting get together, then had a family dinner and celebrated the birthdays. For the occasion, I made more Hot Cross Buns and a cream cheese/salsa dip. This was my egg: I spent the night down at the homestead as did a couple of my sisters, and in the morning we made a lovely Easter breakfast for our parents- waffles, bacon & eggs, fresh fruit, etc. Then we attended their church with them. My home church was having a sunrise breakfast which I unfortunately had to miss; oh well, next week is potluck Sunday. After church, we packed up food and all headed down to the Valley for Easter dinner with all the family within a two hour drive radius. Here's what the driveway looked like when everyone had arrived: I brought a baked ham, the leftover buns, and two pies; there was also turkey and all the fixings, as well as multiple desserts. Much eating and talking was done, as well as an Easter egg hunt in the backyard for the younger kids. Then it was back into town. Yesterday was a laundry/cleaning/rest day and now it's back to work.

About MeI'm a lover of good books, classic movies, and well-written shows (as well as some pretty cheesy ones, to be completely honest). Categories
