In any case, because of this one of my sisters-in-law contacted me and two other sisters and invited us over for dinner last night. She requested that we dress up as it was going to be a formal affair. It was... appetizers in the living room followed by a three course dinner by candlelight in the dining room, served on her great grandmother's best china. Their four kids were dressed up too, and on their best behaviour, as befit the occasion. It was good to be gathered around the table together, talking and laughing and catching up with how the children are doing, in school and out. Then afterwards, when the kids went off to do their own things, to sit in front of the fire and keep on just talking... there have been so few opportunities to do that this year that it was really a blessing.
