Winnie the Pooh, meanwhile, is comfortably waiting out the storm, having removed himself and all his honey pots to a high branch upon the tree in which he lives. On his fourth day atop the branch, he sees Piglet's bottle floating by and assumes it's filled with honey. Not willing that any honey should go to waste, Pooh jumps into the water and grabs the bottle, disappointed when he realizes that it only contains paper. He soon realizes that it's a note, but being a Bear of Very Little Brain, he can't read it and decides he must take it to Christopher Robin for translation. So on the morning of the fifth day, Pooh puts a cork in one of the honeypots he's emptied, christens it "The Floating Bear" climbs on top of his makeshift boat, and paddles with his paws in the direction of Christopher Robin's house.
"The atmospheric conditions have been very unfavourable lately," said Owl.
"The what?"
"It has been raining," explained Owl.
"Yes," said Christopher Robin. "It has."
"The flood-level has reached an unprecedented height."
"The who?"
"There's a lot of water about," explained Owl.
"Yes," said Christopher Robin, "there is."
I'm not yet at the throw-bottles-out-the-window stage, but I do wish the rain would let up. On Friday (tomorrow) night a bunch of us are going to the Nova Scotia International Tattoo, and it's held in the Scotia Bank Center. Last fall the center installed metal detectors and it's a nightmare trying to get into the place, with a huge bottleneck at the entrance. We were there for Stars On Ice in April, and the line up to get in was around the block, due to everyone having to put their phone, keys, etc., on trays, go through the detector, have it go off (in my case) for no reason and then have some dude search your purse. We stood in line outside for about half an hour to get into the building that time, and if it's pouring rain tomorrow evening like it is right now, there's going to be a lot of very soggy people very probably not in the mood for the security guys to be going through their (wet) stuff.
In any case, weather and invasion of privacy aside, I anticipate the Tattoo being great, because it always is. I'll give a full report on that later.
