The boys' parents, my sister and brother-in-law, were singing a duet during the signing of the register, something neither of them was too enthusiastic about mostly due to the song choice. It was a poem written by the groom's aunt, set to music. The music was fine, being composed by our church pianist who is a talented musician, but the lyrics... well, let's just say they were about what you might expect to be written by someone's aunt. Pretty cringe-y. Nevertheless, they gave it their best effort.
Speaking of music, I quite enjoyed the selections played by the pianist as prelude music; to my amused appreciation, these included Handel's Largo, an aria from his 1738 opera Xerxes. Austenites may better recognize it as the song butchered by Mary Bennet (with English lyrics) in the 1995 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice... "Slumber, dear maid..." The amazing scene:
