It is at this time that the local doctor- Cuss- drops by the inn to meet the infamous boarder, curious about the man and what kind of scientific experiments he's involved in. He leaves shaken, and goes immediately to see Mr. Bunting, the vicar. He tells Bunting that when the fellow raised his arm, he revealed that his sleeve was empty. What really rattled Cuss however, is that he then felt his nose being tweaked as if by an invisible hand. That night, the vicar and his wife are in bed when someone breaks into their house. Though they can hear the intruder- he sneezes- they can't see him, and he escapes with money he has stolen.
The next morning, news of the robbery reaches the inn, and everyone is sure that the stranger's behaviour the night before is somehow connected. Mrs. Hall confronts her boarder over his unpaid bill and he tells her that he's recently come into some money and can pay what's owed. Naturally this convinces everybody that he committed the robbery. Which is true. Realizing that the jig is up, the man pulls the wraps off his face, revealing that he has no face. Terrified, everyone at the inn flees out the door, screaming. The noise brings other villagers including Constable Jaffers. He and a few other people cautiously enter the inn where they find the headless man eating a sandwich. He tells them that he is The Invisible Man.
