To begin with, none of the characters are particularly memorable. I don't hate the character of Rey, but there's nothing about her which inspires great liking or affection. And, as many have complained, she is a bit of a Mary Sue. Without any training at all, and without anyone demonstrating the force to her, somehow Rey knows how to use Jedi mind tricks and how to fight with a lightsaber well enough to defeat a trained- albeit injured- Kylo Ren. Even Anakin and Luke weren't able to do this, so what the heck?
So those are my thoughts on The Force Awakens; I didn't hate the film, but it was pretty forgettable, and I think it squandered it's opportunity to reinvigorate the Star Wars series. In its favour: it's not the prequels, thank goodness. Next up is The Last Jedi.
