My sister- the one with nine kids- has boundless energy. Nothing seems to slow her down; she once hiked Cape Split when she was eight months pregnant: This week, her husband (a pastor) is away with their two oldest boys at a youth event, and their eldest daughter is working at camp, leaving her at home alone with their six youngest kids, the dog and two cats. In an effort to keep the children busy she's been having themed days, with games and activities centered around each topic. Monday was pirate day, Tuesday was Pokemon day, and Wednesday was water day, which ended in disaster when the three year old toddled in through the patio doors with the the garden hose and proceeded to demonstrate his proficiency with it. Thursday was spy day, which included working on coded messages and maneuvering their way through a "laser" maze on Mission: Save Stuffy. To end the day, they watched the Disney movie That Darn Cat (original, not remake) starring Hayley Mills and Dean Jones. In it, Jones plays an FBI agent who is trying to tail- no pun intended- Mills' cat in an effort to locate armed robbers who robbed a bank and kidnapped a teller. Shenanigans ensue. Update: Sister just posted that they're having Calvin & Hobbes day today. She says one of he boys suggested doing a challenge of seeing who could last longest in the washer and dryer.
