Meanwhile, the chumps (A.K.A. Rose and Finn) have sneaked onto Snoke's ship with the hacker but end up getting captured by Captain Phasma because- brace yourself- the hacker was a plant in the pay of the First Order. Imagine my shock.
Rey has also made her way to Snoke's ship on her mission to turn Kylo Ren to the light side of the force. But, as it turns out, she and Kylo are chumps too, because Snoke gleefully reveals that he facilitated their mental link in order to find out where Luke is. Which he hasn't done, so it's a bit mystifying why he orders Ren to kill Rey instead of trying to get the location of the island out of her. In a plot twist that a child of three could see coming, Kylo kills Snoke instead and then he and Rey take on all of Snoke's elite guards in a light saber battle. This is a very impressive scene, but also highlights the problem that Rey is too good too soon. She's had about five minutes of training, and she can take on hordes of elite force-trained guards with no difficulty.
So now the few remaining resistance fighters are holed up in the stronghold with a huge enemy force in front of them and no way out. Well done, everybody.
