And yet, I'm not completely adverse to seeing a remake of Ben Hur. As I said in my review of the 1959 film, it isn't a perfect movie- it has some flaws, including a wooden leading lady and an ending which is abrupt and incomplete.
Despite my misgivings, though, I've been thinking about going to see the new film... after all, maybe it won't be terrible. Perhaps it might have something worthwhile to say, a fresh take on the story. And, my doubts aside, I don't want the film to fail... I would love it if the movie was good, and became a critical and financial success. Unfortunately, I watched a review of the film today, and it didn't sound good. What really turned me off was the reviewer's description of the ending which- with fair warning- he spoiled so as to explain what was wrong with it. I'm about to discuss this new ending, so:
