As I flipped through Vera Lynn's autobiography, I paused on the chapter where she was describing singing at the London Palladium to the sound of bombs dropping during an air raid. And then I thought about the modern crop of singers... yes, well... perhaps we should change the subject. Vera Lynn provided much of the soundtrack for the war years and was one of the last surviving voices of that era. She will be missed.
