In our concert, our choir sang a song by Gene Grier and Lowell Everson entitled Winter Solstice. It wasn't my favourite number that we did- I preferred the Christmas pieces- but it was pretty. I couldn't find a version of it online, so I'm going to post a version of In The Bleak Midwinter, which combines solstice (sometimes referred to as "midwinter") and Christmas.
In The Bleak Midwinter is a poem by Christina Rossetti written in 1872. It was originally set to music by Gustav Holst in 1906, the to another tune by Harold Darke in 1911. The Holst version is the more familiar setting (and the one I prefer), so here's a performance of it:
