In any case, thinking about how immediately recognizable the music from Chariots of Fire is made me think back to Junior and Senior High band concerts, during which we would often play a well-known and well-liked movie theme, or a medley of them. Some of the ones we did included "Raiders March" from Indiana Jones, the theme from Mission: Impossible, Henry Mancini's Pink Panther theme, Star Wars, and the theme from Rocky, with "Eye of the Tiger" thrown in for good measure. These were always crowd-pleasers, and popular with us band members as well, because they were fun, familiar, and easy to learn.
The familiar strains of these themes can instantly bring to mind the pictures they're from. Some others that are capable of this are the theme music from Jaws, Superman, and 2001: A Space Odyssey. These are the ones that come immediately to mind; no doubt there are many more. What movie themes for you immediately produce a mental image of the film they're from?
